Declaration of Independence
A great man by the name of Thomas Jefferson explained the reason for the declaration of independence from a totalitarian regime called Britain in his preamble. The unforeseeable mistake was to believe that another form of government would bring freedom to the people. Jefferson’s words still reign true for a Declaration of Independence from government altogether.
“It has become necessary for the people to separate from government. The people have the right to be individuals separate from tyranny, just as any other human has the same right. Additionally, it is important to explain to the public, including those in other nations, why this declaration of independence is being made.
This declaration is based on certain truths. All people have certain rights, unalienable rights, that the government should never take away. These rights include life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and the right to self governance.”
When a government fails to grant rights to the people, the people have the right to remove government in a way that will allow for their unalienable rights to be protected by themselves. Governments should not be overthrown for trivial reasons; it is not typical for people to change a system that they are accustomed to. However, when the people have suffered many abuses under the control of totalitarian leaders, they not only have the right but the duty to leave that government and see that it is never created again.
Brink of Freedom takes that duty very seriously and honors it full heartedly.
Signing the Personal Declaration of Independence
Brink of Freedom has started a personal declaration of independence and would like your help in this drafting. The current draft is broken into seven articles. Each article can be revised. We have set up a system where revisions to any article are submitted, discussed, and voted on by freedom demanding individuals such as yourselves. Likewise, new articles can also be drafted, discussed and voted on.
You will be able to sign each version of the declaration as well as view those who have signed.
The declaration can be looked at in two ways. 1) A state or territory declaration from any federal government. This is the view to be taken from The Independent States of America project which is in development now. 2) A personal declaration of independence from any and all governments. This is the view to be taken by the anarchists who have completely lost faith in even the possibility of a government being necessary or desired in any way, in any shape or form.
It must be noted that this declaration is a declaration for all to voluntarily sign and is not limited to any geographical location.
A Call for Support
We cannot take this on alone. It is a huge undertaking that requires brave individuals. We need your support, not just in signing the declaration and proposing revisions but in all aspects. We must voluntarily organize against involuntary government. Please use the BOF Forums and Contact Us form to lend your support.
The declaration is only the beginning, the first step.
Please do not continue to allow tyrants to control you and your fellow man.
